What is eduGAIN?

eduGAIN is an interconnection service that connects national academic identity federations. It allows students, researchers, and staff to use their institutional credentials to access online services across participating institutions and countries securely.

What is eduroam?

eduroam (education roaming) is a secure, world-wide Wi-Fi roaming service developed for the international research and education community. Users can connect to Wi-Fi using their institutional login credentials at any eduroam-enabled campus globally.

Global Access

As long as the institution participates in eduroam and your UESD credentials are valid, you can connect anywhere in the world where eduroam is available.

What is eduroam CAT?

eduroam CAT (Configuration Assistant Tool) is a utility that automatically sets up secure eduroam profiles on supported devices, ensuring correct configuration and improved security.

Access & Eligibility

Who can use eduroam at UESD?

All UESD students, staff, and approved guests with valid institutional credentials (e.g., username@uesd.edu.gh) can use eduroam on campus and at other eduroam-participating institutions.

Is my data secure on eduroam?

Yes! eduroam uses 802.1X with WPA2/WPA3 Enterprise encryption. Your credentials are only sent to UESD's authentication server—even when you're at a different institution.

Android Setup Guide

Android Configuration

  1. Connect temporarily to any internet
  2. Install "eduroam CAT" from Play Store
  3. Search for "University of Environment and Sustainable Development"
  4. Download and install the profile
  5. Enter your full UESD email and password
iPhone/iPad Setup Guide

iOS Configuration

  1. Use Safari to visit: cat.eduroam.org
  2. Tap "Download your eduroam installer"
  3. Select "University of Environment and Sustainable Development"
  4. Download the iOS configuration profile
  5. Install it from Settings > Profile Downloaded
Windows Setup Guide

Windows Configuration

  1. Connect temporarily to the internet
  2. Visit cat.eduroam.org
  3. Select "University of Environment and Sustainable Development"
  4. Download the Windows installer
  5. Run the installer and enter your UESD credentials

  • Ensure username format: username@uesd.edu.gh
  • Reinstall the eduroam CAT profile
  • Check device date/time settings
  • Forget network and reconnect
